Brocante

Yesterday, was the "Brocante des Constellations". A "brocante", and I'm always learning, is a Flea Market. The Quartier de Constellations is a neighbourhood close to the Metro stations of Tomberg and Gribaumont. I went there with two friends, because we both adore this kind of Markets. This is a very calm area, mostly for families, big houses with backyard and garage. On this Brocante day, everyone steps out of the house to sell their own stuff, all kinds of stuff: books, boxes, dvds, clothes, shoes, cameras, toys, etc.

Ontem, foi o "Brocante des Constellations". Um "brocante", e eu estou sempre a aprender, é um Mercado de Pulgas, ou Feira. O Quartier de Constellations é um bairro perto das estações de Metro de Tomberg e Gribaumont. Eu fui lá com duas amigas, porque ambas adoramos este tipo de Mercados. É uma zona muito calma, basicamente de famílias, casas grandes com quintal e garagem. Neste dia de Broncante, toda a gente sai de casa para vender as suas coisas, todo o tipo de coisas: livros, caixas, dvds, roupas, sapatos, máquinas fotográficas, brinquedos, etc.

The prices were amazing, I ended up buying 2 vintage boxes (50cent each), perfect to put all my letters, postcards and flyers that I will collect here in Brussels. There were so many things for sale... I wish I could have bought so many things to decorate my new apartment! I still have time, it's better to save some money now!

Os preços eram fantásticos, acabei por comprar duas caixas vintage (50cêntimos cada), perfeitas para colocar todas as minhas cartas, postais e folhetos que eu for coleccionando aqui em Bruxelas. Havia tanta coisa para venda... Quem me dera poder ter comprado tantas coisas para decorar o meu novo apartamento! Mas ainda tenho tempo, é melhor poupar algum dinheiro agora!

Place Flagey

The Place Flagey is one of the biggest squares of Brussels, and it's where one of best Markets takes place. I've read about this market in several websites and blogs, and I was really looking forward to go, even more when I discovered that it was only 15min walking from my place. It was overwhelming for me! I took a backpack and went there to buy some fresh veggies, fruits, bread and a roast chicken for lunch. It's amazing the amount of things you can find in this market, since vegetables, fruits, cheeses, fish, meat, flowers, different varieties of bread and pastries.

A Place Flagey é umas das maiores praças de Bruxelas, e é onde ocorre um dos melhores Mercados. Eu já tinha lido sobre este mercado em diferentes websites e blogs, e estava mesmo ansiosa para ir lá, ainda mais quando descobri que ficava apenas a 15minutos a pé da minha casa. Foi impressionante para mim! Eu levei uma mochila e fui lá para comprar legumes frescos, frutas, pão e um frango assado para o almoço. É fantástica a quantidade de coisas que se pode encontrar ali, desde legumes, frutas, queijos, peixe, carne, flores, diferentes variedades de pão e bolos. 

The best thing about this markets is that you can buy everything fresh and it's always cheaper than going to the supermarket. Also, the quality is better and it's such a thrill to go to markets like this and interact with the sellers, perfect to (try to) improve my French! The weather was perfect, so it's always nice to go out and discover these local markets and all its products. There are so many markets like this, one in Gare du Midi, so it's another option, and I have to go there one day!

O melhor destes mercados é que se pode comprar tudo fresco e é sempre mais barato que ir ao supermercado. Além disso, a qualidade é melhor e é entusiasmante ir a estes mercados e interagir com os vendedores, perfeito para (tentar) melhorar o meu francês! O tempo estava perfeito, por isso é sempre bom sair e descobrir estes mercados locais e os seus produtos. Há imensos mercados como este, um deles na Gare du Midi, por isso é outra opção, e eu tenho de ir lá um dia!
