The Christmas Markets

There's something about Christmas time that I love. I guess it's all the atmosphere, all the lights in the streets, the cold outside, the touch of cinnamon in my coffee, the music. Before I came to Brussels, I did a little research and I discovered that they have Christmas Markets. It's not something you see in Portugal... The first time I went to these Markets was when I was in Manchester, and I loved it. So, as soon as I knew there were Christmas Markets here, I've been counting the days till de 29th of November, and finally the Markets began!

Há algo na época de Natal que eu adoro. Acho que é toda a atmosfera, todas as luzes nas ruas, o frio lá fora, o toque de canela no meu café, a música. Antes de vir para Bruxelas, fiz uma pequena pesquisa e descobri que eles têm Mercados de Natal. Não é algo que se veja em Portugal... A primeira vez que fui a um destes Mercados foi quando estive em Manchester, e eu adorei! Portanto, assim que soube que havia Mercados de Natal aqui, tenho vindo a contar os dias até 29 de Novembro, e finalmente os Mercados começaram!

Music, lights and colours

In the Christmas Markets, we can visit the wooden cabins, selling a variety of things, since cheeses, waffles, belgian chocolates, candies, Christmas decorations, toys, lights, the mulled wine perfect to warm us up. It's also nice to get new ideas for gifts! In the Grand Place there's the big Christmas Tree and the Jesus crib. Arriving to Place Sainte-Catherine, we find amazing vintage carousels! There are loads of wooden cabins where we can grab something to eat or drink, while we walk around the square. It's also in Sainte-Catherine that we can find the Ice-Skating Rink and the Big Wheel! Everything is so amazing, I love this season!

Nos Mercados de Natal, podemos visitar as cabanas de madeira, que vendem uma variedade de coisas, desde queijos, waffles, chocolates belga, doces, decorações de Natal, brinquedos, luzes, o vinho quente perfeito para nos aquecer. É também bom para ter novas ideias para presentes! Na Grand Place há uma grande árvore de Natal e o presépio. Ao chegar à Place Sainte-Catherine, encontramos fantásticos carrocéis vintage! Há imensas cabanas de madeira onde podemos comprar algo para comer ou beber, enquanto passeamos pela praça. É também em Sainte-Catherine que podemos encontrar a pista de patinagem no gelo e a Roda Gigante! É tudo tão fantástico, eu adoro esta época!

December

Today is the 1st of December, the last month of the year. Many things have changed this year, new job, new city, new friends and new discoveries. It's quite scary when I think about it but it's also nice, because at least it was quite an exciting year! So now, it's time for me to think about what to offer to my family and friends, and it won't be long for me to go back to Portugal and spend Christmas at home. 3 weeks and that's it! I hope you guys have a great December, filled with joy!

Hoje é o dia 1 de Dezembro, o último mês do ano. Tantas coisas mudaram este ano, novo trabalho, nova cidade, novos amigos e novas descobertas. É um bocado assustador quando penso nisso mas é também bom, porque ao menos sempre foi um ano entusiasmante! Portanto agora, é tempo de eu pensar no que oferecer à minha família e amigos, e não falta muito para eu voltar para Portugal e passar o Natal em casa. 3 semanas e já está! Espero que vocês tenham um bom Dezembro, cheio de alegria!
