Busy Weekend

Art Nouveau

This weekend was bigger than usual, because the 1st of November is a holiday! A weekend with 3 days, perfect to relax after a busy week at work. 

I always remember when I was studying Art History at school, and how fascinated I was about Art Nouveau. I've always loved this kind of architecture and decoration, so inspired by the nature forms, flowers, curved lines. I always remember Victor Horta, a belgium architect, and his amazing work, which we can find here in Brussels. I really wanted to do an Art Nouveau route and explore nice buildings with Art Nouveau details, so I did it on Saturday!

Este fim-de-semana foi maior que o normal, porque o dia 1 de Novembro é feriado! Um fim-de-semana de três dias, perfeito para relaxar depois uma semana atarefada no trabalho. 

Lembro-me sempre de quando eu estudava História da Arte na escola, e o quão fascinada eu era pela Art Nouveau. Sempre adorei este tipo de arquitectura e decoração, tão inspirado pelas formas naturais, flores, linhas curvas. Lembro-me sempre do Victor Horta, um arquitecto belga, e do seu fantástico trabalho, que podemos encontrar aqui em Bruxelas. Eu queria muito fazer um roteiro Art Nouveau e explorar os edifícios lindos com detalhes de Art Nouveau, por isso fi-lo no Sábado!

The Victor Horta Museum is so beaufitul. I've actually only seen it from the outside, but I surely will be back some other day because I really want to see how it is on the inside. This was Horta's private house and studio. It's located in Rue Americaine, in Saint Gilles.

O Museu do Victor Horta é tão bonito. Eu apenas o vi por fora, mas seguramente voltarei outro dia porque quero muito ver como é por dentro. Este Museu era a casa e estúdio do Victor Horta. Está localizado na Rue Americaine, em Saint Gilles.

Place du Châtelain

While I was walking around the Bailli area, going through every little streets trying to capture nice details of Art Nouveau, I ended up in Place du Châtelain, where I've never been before, but which is filled with different coffee places, bars and restaurants. Near this square, I found Rue du Page, where I went to a cute little Cafe, called Lilicup, with amazing cupcakes, cookies and cakes for every taste. I bought a Red Velvet cupcake that I took with me outside, to eat while exploring the surroundings.

Enquanto caminhava pela zona de Bailli, entrando em todas as pequenas ruas tentando fotografar pequenos detalhes de Art Nouveau, dei de caras com a Place du Châtelain, onde eu nunca tinha estado antes, e que está recheada de diferentes cafés, bares e restaurantes. Perto desta praça, encontrei a Rue du Page, onde fui a um pequeno café, chamado Lilicup, com fantásticos cupcakes, bolachas e bolos para todos os gostos. Eu comprei um cupcake Red Velvet que levei comigo para ir comendo enquanto explorava os arredores.

Brussels Vintage Market

• Halles St.Gery - 1000 Bruxelles •

One of the things that I was also looking forward to visit is the Vintage Market which only happens on the 1st Sunday of every month, so I've been waiting and finally today I went there. It's located in a big builiding in the centre of the beautiful area of St.Gery, the perfect area to hang out with friends, go to different bars and enjoy a good night. So this Market was so crowded with people looking for nice items, and there were so many different things for sale: clothes, accessories, jewelry, cupcakes. The building itself was quite nice, and I really liked the market. I'll do my best to be back next month, and maybe buy something for myself, because they really have amazing things there!

Uma das coisas que eu também queria muito visitar é o Vintage Market que apenas ocorre no primeiro domingo de cada mês, por isso eu esperei e finalmente hoje fui lá. Está localizado num grande edifício no centro da linda zona de St.Gery, a zona perfeita para sair com amigos, ir a diferentes bares e desfrutar de uma boa noite. Então este Mercado estava bastante cheio com pessoas à procura de bons itens  e havia tantas coisas para venda: roupas, acessórios, joalharia, cupcakes. O edifício por si só é bastante bonito e eu gostei imenso do Mercado. Farei o melhor para ir lá no próximo mês e talvez comprar algo para mim, porque eles tinham coisas muito bonitas lá!

November

So with this post, I welcome November, which is starting to get really cold. The weather is really starting to change and it has been quite difficult for me, because I was used to the weather in Spain and even in Portugal, so this comes as shock. Still, I have to get used to it, wear several layers of clothes, hats, warm gloves and scarves! By the end of this month, we'll have the Christmas Markets and I couldn't be more excited! Can't wait to see the streets with colourful lights, the big Christmas tree, the cabins with sweets and mulled wine. It's such a nice season!

Então com este post, dou as boas vindas a Novembro, que começa a ficar muito frio. O tempo está a mudar e tem sido um pouco difícil para mim, porque eu estava acostumada ao tempo de Espanha e até de Portugal, por isso é como um choque. Ainda assim, tenho de me acostumar, usando diferentes camadas de roupas, gorros, luvas quentes e cachecóis! No final deste mês, temos os Christmas Markets e eu não podia estar mais entusiasmada! Mal posso esperar por ver as ruas com luzes coloridas, a grande árvore de Natal, as cabanas com doces e vinho quente. É uma uma época tão bonita!
